TOTD: Yeast

For this test, we decided to wake up some yeast and test the yeasty water it made. Why not?
We microwaved 1 cup of water and poured in an undetermined amount of yeast (we wanted it to be a lot to get the best yeasty results), along with some sugar, into a Pyrex measuring cup.

We waited several minutes to make sure the yeast had farted sufficiently and drew three drops from the cup an onto the test.

RESULTS: Yeast is not pregnant. What a disappointment. I suppose that means if you have a yeast infection and take a test, the results will probably be negative.

TOTD: Lemon Juice

TOTD stands for Test of the Day. In this post we decided to test fresh pure lemon juice.

We cut open the lemon, squeezed some of its juice into a cup, and ran the test. After we were through with the lemon, we used it to deodorize the garbage disposals. How handy!

THE RESULTS ARE IN:

Not pregnant? This line showed up very faintly on the not pregnant side. We are not exactly sure why the result came out this faintly. Could it be the acid? The world may never know... We may retest this in the future just in case.

The Tests We Use

The tests we are using for this adventure come from the good ol' Wallyworld. They are 88 cents each and 99% accurate according to the box. Does that sound good or what? This means we will be able to buy tests in bulk to make this blog very active.

A little more on the tests

They are called First Signal and can be easily read if you know English or Spanish. Inside the enormous box is a large instruction sheet and a packet. Inside the packet is the tiny, simple pregnancy test, a pipette, and a packet of silica gel.

These tests are very simple to use and read. They react in 60 seconds. It recommends the test be read after three minutes and no longer than ten. It of course tests for the hormone hCG which indicates pregnancy. Let the games begin.

The Life Changing Event

It all started with a pregnancy test left as a prank. You know how the saying goes, once you get one negative pregnancy test, you can't stop. This rather random event led us on a journey to explore what around us was pregnant. We imagined all of the possible liquids that we encounter on a regular basis and never stopped to ask the simple question: is it pregnant? Our eyes were suddenly open to all the possibilities! But before we could start testing everything else, we had to start at home. So for our first post, Cinnamon and Black Rose see if we're pregnant.

One after the other, we went into the bathroom stall, plastic cups in hand (because we can't afford the tests you pee directly on) and followed the steps of the test outlined in the bilingual instruction manual. After waiting three minutes in anticipation, we found that we were unfortunately not pregnant. See attached pictures.

Thus the journey begins.
